SoulWrite Studio™

The SoulWrite Reflection Society™

For the reader who needs permission to be honest with themselves.

For readers of spiritual memoir, healing prose, and honest faith narratives.

About This Club

Ayanna Elise writes toward exhaustion. Not the kind that sleeps and recovers. The kind that has lived too long inside a performance, too long inside the expectation that being tired is not something you are allowed to say out loud. SoulWrite Studio™ was built to hold that kind of writing, and the SoulWrite Reflection Society™ is the community it creates: readers who came to these books because something in the title gave them permission to enter.

This is not a faith circle in the institutional sense. It does not require membership in any tradition, any denomination, or any particular understanding of what spiritual means. What it requires is the willingness to read honestly, to let a book ask something of you, and to sit with the answer for longer than is comfortable. Ayanna Elise writes toward healing without packaging it. The books do not end with everything resolved. They end with the reader less alone.

The Society meets monthly around one text. The conversation is slow. It is not trying to cover everything. It is trying to go deep into one or two things the book raises and to stay there long enough for something true to surface. If you have ever read a book in the early hours because the quiet was unbearable and the page was the only thing that would hold you, this is your circle.

Dear God, I'm Tired Book 1

by Ayanna Elise

Dear God, I'm Tired is addressed to the reader who has kept going long past the point where going made sense, and who needed someone to finally say that out loud. Ayanna Elise writes with the specificity of a person who has been exactly where this book is set.

Structure

How the Club Works

1

The Society reads one title per month, with a deliberate pace that honors the weight of the material. These are not books to race through. They are books to sit with. Discussion opens in the third week of the month, after everyone has had time to finish and to think.

2

Discussion prompts are designed to open inward, not outward. The questions are not about the author's intentions or the book's literary merit. They are about what the book asked of you personally, what it named that you had not been able to name, and where you disagreed with it. Disagreement is not disrespect here. It is engagement.

3

The community tone is one of careful honesty. Nobody is required to share more than they are ready to share. The space is designed to feel private even when it is not. What is said in the Society stays within the Society, and the expectation of that discretion is what makes the conversation possible.

What This Club Reads For

The Honest Voice in Spiritual Writing

SoulWrite Studio™ publishes writing that refuses the resolution of easy faith. The Society reads for the moments when Ayanna Elise allows a question to remain a question, and explores what that honesty gives the reader that more polished spiritual writing does not.

Healing as Process, Not Event

These books do not end with healing. They end in the middle of it. The Society holds space for the reading experience of sitting with a text that mirrors a process the reader is themselves inside, and for what that mirroring does and does not provide.

Permission and Witness

A recurring theme in SoulWrite fiction is the moment when a character is finally seen. Not fixed. Not advised. Seen. The Society pays attention to how these moments are written and what they tell us about what readers who are in the middle of difficulty most need from books.
