The Reading Room selects one title per month from the Hot Gloss Press™ catalog and adjacent luxury fiction that shares the imprint's aesthetic and thematic concerns. Discussion begins mid-month and extends through the last days, creating space for readers on different schedules to arrive at the same conversation.
Discussion is organized around two questions that recur regardless of the specific title: what is this woman protecting, and what would it take for her to stop? These questions are not the only ones, but they provide a through-line that makes each session feel connected to the larger conversation the Reading Room is always having.
The tone of the Reading Room is sophisticated, direct, and unsentimental. There is no expectation of comfort. There is an expectation of honesty. The readers who come here have been thinking about these dynamics for a long time. The Reading Room is the place where that thinking gets to be said.
